Summer has been busy for the Creative Stories Media team. Dave and I have added four creatives to our team and we have been moving ahead at lightning speed. It’s been just a year since Dave and I sat down at a local coffee shop and began planning out our business model. The concept was to use our creative skills to help local Temecula businesses with their marketing needs. Since those first coffee shop meetings, so much has changed while much remains the same.
Over the past 8 months, we took a deeper dive into the type of marketing agency we wanted to be. Did we just want to offer videography and social media? Or could we be greater? Could we become a full-service marketing agency that would offer everything from branding, to content creation, to website design and package design? We believed we could and if we did, we would be a premier Southern California marketing agency.
This is a true example of the importance of writing down goals and objectives and then watching them come to fruition. Not long after that discussion, we met our now website designer and SEO master, Joey Renteria. Joey who is working diligently on our new website, has so much that he brings to the table and we knew early on, he was a great fit.
In late May, Dave and I had our photoshoot with local headshot photographer Sharisse Rowan. We had a couple zoom calls with her prior to our session and we got along really well. After our fun photo session, we all decided we had to work together. Sharisse Rowan now handles the personal branding photography for all our clients. Her skills are unmatched, and her clients love her.
At that point Dave and I figured we would wait on bringing on any other creatives and then something magical happened. An old colleague from the company where I sold my first business reached out to me. Greg Sandoval had designed much of the new packaging for Brooke and Nora at Home and we always enjoyed working together. His calm demeanor and creative style made it clear to me that he and Dave Berry would get along perfectly. Now Greg is our branding manager for our clients, and he is working on the new brand kit for Creative Stories Media.
While we figured bringing on Greg would round out the team, something in the back of my head was nagging me. Social Media. Now while I love social media and all the good, I am well aware of my own skills and blank spaces. I kept asking myself, “Am I really the person to handle the social media pages of medium and large companies? Do I have the time to hone in on all the latest trends and applications?” My answer sadly was “um, not sure.” So along came Kate. Kate Leon is a social media maven and has the skills, organization, and passion that we needed. Dave and I were blown away by her portfolio and that was that. Welcome to our newest team member, Kate.
So here we are. Headed to our first trade show in just a couple of weeks, building a website that matches our business model, changing our logo and brand kit and establishing ourselves as a premier full-service marketing agency. I believe in us, our commitment to the dream, our love of marketing and our ability to build something even in a season of chaos.
